It’s summer officially! Which means BBQ. But how does a New Yorker keep a grill in a shoebox apartment? Fear not. The best of the best pitmasters congregate at Madison Square Park once a year, with their grill pit to make us delicious BBQ. Along with delicious BBQ, there will also be live entertainment to make it a perfect summer day.
Where? Madison Square Park (between 23rd and 26th Streets, and 5th Ave. and Madison Ave.) Madison Avenue between 23rd and 26th Street.
When? Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9, 2013 from 11:00am 6:00pm (The lines could get long, so try to get there early.)
Admission is free. Food is $9 a plate, while beverages / desserts ranges from $3 – $8. CASH ONLY.
The best of it all, proceeds from the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party support the Madison Square Park Conservancy, the organization responsible for the beauty, ongoing maintenance, and programming of the park. This translates to me as guilt-free calories. I need to eat that dessert because it’s partially charity!
